jk. Basically I drove an hour to a Suzuki dealershipi that had a "mint" Saphire blue twinturbo for sale. Before I even went in to go through the dealership BS, i just alked up to the can and started checking it out. Doors were locked so I was limited. A salesmen came running over, and asked if I was interested in the car, i told him I was and that I used to have a Z so I know a decent amount about them and asked if I could see the keys to get a better look at the interior and check out under the hood.
He came back with the valet key, but I didnt say anything yet. BTW asking price for this 93 with 70k was around 15,000 if i remember correctly. The leather was all in good shape but I noticed overspray on the doorjambs and on some of the screws. Still I stayed silent. The dash was starting to lift, and because it was obvious to anyone with eyesight I brought it up and he said he would be able to work with me on the price. I asked about 60k service and he said they had no records of the car but it didnt need any kind of service. He popped the hood for me, and the plenum cover as cracked, I mentioned it but to keep him from getting to defensive said it could have been teh mistake of a mechanic. He was trying to get me to rush and just say I would buy it so I told him to run if he wanted and I would get him when i was done checking it out. he went in and i inspected every inch of the car. I was really pissed when i looked at inner wheel wells and saw some paint chipped off, and red paint underneath. By this time every other customer on the lot was watching me check out this car. I had a pretty decent audience of around 12 people. I didn't say anything outloud about the car because I still wanted to have the upperhand, and thats when I saw the salesmen come back over.
He was thrilled so many people were around and just said "look how much attention this car gets, should we start the paper work?". I told him was interested but wasn't going to pay more 11k for it and that would have to include doing the 60k maintenance for me. He laughed and said "why would I sell it for that low? look at how many people are around it." I basically just told him if it was mint I would expect them to be able to get 15k for it but it was far from it.(he had also told me earlier it had been in no accidents.) He said it looked mint to him. So then I ran down my list of things wrong with it in front of the whole crowd. He was basically demeaning me as a dumb kid at this point and i felt the need to put him in his place. I started with the key, asking if he knew that was the valet key. He argued and said it wasn't, so I gave in but asked him to open the hatch for me because I hadn't gotten a chance to see it before he came out. Keep in mind that I did but I knew that his key wouldn't open it. He tried, it didnt work and I said "like I told u that is a valet key." He felt dumb and offered me a slightly lower price , but at this point i didnt want to deal with him, the dealership or get a pos car. I opened the doors and pointed out the overspray on teh screws and asked if the car had been in an accident or if it was all original. He of course said all original, and i said I think ur mistaken. At this point i showed him the red paint under the saphire blue which had chipped away. He tried to tell the audience, that was now growing larger, that it was just a primer color. But I know nissan parts are more yellow from the factory and offer dark replacement parts. And the car was definately red at some point. At this point he was pretty pissed and just lost it (I wasn't even halfway done with my list of things wrong with the car) in his exact words he told me and my friends to "Get the hell off the lot."
I left with a big smile on my face as I watched everyone else there that was looking at cars, walk to their cars and also "get off the lot."Theres more to the story that I left out but basically the salesperson didn't know anything about any of the cars on the lot, and even tried to sell me a few other ones while I was looking at the Z.
